Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College

In spring 2010, ASU combined its outstanding education programs into one unit: the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College.

Teachers are treasures in our communities. Your financial support to the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College directly impacts the future by helping us shape the next generation of teachers and school leaders.

Reinventing Teacher Education

Our innovative partnerships change the lives of children and families. Our Professional Development Schools program partners with urban and rural schools statewide, including those on American Indian reservations. Using satellite video technology, we train highly qualified teachers and principals within their own communities.

We integrate theory and practice. Our graduates are highly sought after because of their comprehensive education, both in rigorous curriculum fueled by current research, and by demonstrating best practices with intensive field experience. The Fulton Teachers College offers teacher preparation programs in early childhood, elementary, secondary and special education in addition to master’s programs for professional educators and a doctorate in leadership and innovation.

We advance teaching with purposeful curriculum and strategic technology. Today’s educators face many challenges that didn’t exist a generation ago. Fulton Teachers College’s curriculum integrates technology; educational leadership; competencies to teach children from diverse backgrounds, including children with special needs; and standards-based, data-driven instruction and assessment.

We are not limited by location. Fulton Teachers College offers programs at all four ASU campuses; Downtown Phoenix, Polytechnic, Tempe and West, as well as at partner school districts statewide. Two degrees are offered exclusively online, including a master’s degree in early childhood and a master’s degree in Special Education Consultation and Collaboration: Autism Emphasis (the first of its kind in Arizona).

There is strength in our numbers. Every year, more than half of Arizona’s graduating teachers come from Fulton Teachers College. We are among the largest, most influential teacher preparation colleges in the country.

We cannot do this alone. Support the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College.
Your investment boosts the quality of education in Arizona. Our scholars choose to make a difference for pre-K to 12 grade students. Thank you for choosing to make a difference for Fulton Teachers College’s students.

Kay and Charlie Thompson

The Thompsons demonstrated their commitment to education and ASU by establishing two endowed scholarships. “It has been rewarding to get to know these students through the scholarships and see them go on to work in the community,” says Charlie. “We want to help people attain their goals to provide a good life for their family and the community.” The Jarnagins focus on improving the lives of those dedicated to teaching children. That’s one of the reasons they established a scholarship benefiting Fulton Teachers College student teachers. “Education was always emphasized in my family,” Donald says. “I support the college because of the education of my family — my mother, sister and sister-in-law are all ASU grads and teachers.”
