Learn more about your impact

Having been a part of Sun Devil Athletics during their time at ASU, the Smith family supports academic and athletic excellence and a well-rounded college experience, which they believe prepares graduates for success after college. That's why they established an endowed scholarship for the ASU baseball program — to financially support Sun Devil Baseball in its pursuit of building champion student-athletes who excel in the classroom, on the diamond and, most importantly, in life after baseball.

When you make a gift to the Roger and Shelley Smith Baseball Scholarship Fund, you help them increase access to higher education and allow baseball student-athletes to draw on their ASU experiences in order to make a lasting and positive impact in the communities where they live and serve.

Impact of Donor Support

  • The cost for an out-of-state student-athlete to attend ASU for one year is more than $75,000 on average between tuition, team travel, equipment, sports medicine, food and nutrition and tutoring/academic resources.
  • In 2024, Arizona State ranked ahead of Stanford, Cal, USC and UCLA for the third year in a row for Academic Progress Rating which tracks achievement in the classroom year over year.
  • Some more metrics that show just how much these hard-working student-athletes have achieved with your support: 3.40 average GPA (spring 2024), 43% of the senior class made the Dean’s List throughout the 2023-24 academic year, 50 total student-athletes across six teams were named to the 2023 conference Academic Honor Roll and 165 total Sun Devil student-athletes received degrees in the 2023-24 academic year, with 58 graduating with honors.

Our family believes in giving back and sharing the blessings we have received financially and through our time."
