MLFTC First-Year Retention Scholarship

Learn more about your impact

Your gift to the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College First-Year Retention Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support for incoming freshmen who have high-risk retention indicators, including first-generation students, underrepresented minorities, and those with high financial need or low calculated index scores.

In order to receive this scholarship, students must participate in intentionally designed experiences that build skills, increase self-efficacy and resilience, and create mentoring relationships. The scholarship will be awarded based upon participation and engagement in these events.

You are giving students that may have otherwise been limited by financial obstacles the opportunity to fulfill their own ambitions and earn their degrees. Beyond that, your support will be felt for generations as our graduates become effective educators who will improve the lives of individuals and strengthen communities."

Impact of Donor Support

  • More learners can pursue higher education. Thanks to our donors, more than 7,000 ASU students have received upwards of $32 million in scholarships with more than $39 million raised.
  • More students succeed. ASU ranks #1 among the state’s public universities for its 86% first-year retention rate thanks in part to donor-funded student success initiatives.
  • Important initiatives continue. More than $320 million in new gifts and commitments support ongoing initiatives at ASU.
  • The spirit of generosity abounds. In the past year, more than 100,000 individual, corporate and foundation donors stepped forward to help the ASU community.

I believe ASU is a major life force in our community and I want to do my part to help it thrive."
