Learn more about your impact

Your gift supports the Thunderbird Second Language Acquisition Program as it builds immersive ways for students to learn and acquire second, third and fourth languages. The Thunderbird Second Language Acquisition Program is already on the cutting edge of language programs as it continues to digitize language acquisition. Gifts made to this fund will allow Thunderbird to take advantage of the newest technologies in the language space to ensure that our students are immersed in language learning no matter where they are located.

I came to Thunderbird as an English-speaking Canadian accountant, and left a year later transformed into a Japanese-speaking investment banker, with dreams of being an entrepreneur. I had absolutely no idea when I arrived in Arizona that I would ever go to Japan, let alone start two Japan-focused businesses later in life. That is the power of Thunderbird."

Impact of Donor Support

  • More learners can pursue higher education. In 2022, 22,000 donors contributed $66.3 million for scholarships.
  • More students succeed. ASU ranks #1 among the state’s public universities for its 86% first-year retention rate thanks in part to donor-funded student success initiatives.
  • And donors helped ASU offer more than 4,500 hours of free tutoring.

I believe ASU is a major life force in our community and I want to do my part to help it thrive."
