When you give to Asian Pacific American Studies, you support an academic program founded by a coalition of local Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander community leaders, ASU faculty, staff and students who understand the value of learning about AANHPI experiences in the United States.
Over the past 25 years, APAS faculty have educated ASU students about how AANHPI experiences expand what we know about U.S. democracy, race relations and globalization. We continue to evolve as a program, seeking to be more inclusive of Muslim Americans and Arab Americans in our courses and community engagement.
APAS faculty, nationally recognized scholars in their respective areas of expertise, have collected local community oral histories, published two statewide reports about AANHPIs in AZ, addressed anti-Asian violence with their research, and shared their knowledge about Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies as well as Ethnic Studies across the state. The program has prepared and mentored students to be critical thinkers and active problem solvers who acknowledge human complexity, social diversity, and community-based knowledge in identifying solutions for pressing issues facing us today.
