Every year, the ASU School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies awards an undergraduate history major the Friends of History scholarship in order to assist in paying for academic needs. Students are chosen based on academic merit and their commitment to the field of history.
Personally, I always found history important. Growing up, a lot of people put emphasis on STEM and business fields. I always wanted to pursue history, but it was not exactly seen as viable. To receive this award feels validating, like the hard work I putting into my major is worth it."
Impact of Donor Support
- More learners can pursue higher education. In 2022, 22,000 donors contributed $66.3 million for scholarships.
- More students succeed. ASU ranks #1 among the state’s public universities for its 86% first-year retention rate thanks in part to donor-funded student success initiatives.
- And donors helped ASU offer more than 4,500 hours of free tutoring.
