Learn more about your impact

This scholarship was established by Mr. Fritz in honor of his wife, Susan Kerr Fritz. Susan was a nurse in the US Army during World War II. As a First Lieutenant, she supervised the nursing service of a medical installation; and instructed, assigned, disciplined and inspected duty performance of Army Nurse Corps personnel of the unit. As a dietitian, LT. Kerr supervised the preparation of food for patients of an Army Hospital; she served as Chief Nurse of a hospital train and was supervisor in a psychiatric hospital. She heroically served overseas for thirty-nine months in England, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany. Susan and her husband moved to Scottsdale in 1970. This scholarship supports undergraduate nursing students in their junior or senior year.

Impact of Donor Support

  • More learners can pursue higher education. Thanks to our donors, more than 7,000 ASU students have received upwards of $32 million in scholarships with more than $39 million raised.
  • More students succeed. ASU ranks #1 among the state’s public universities for its 86% first-year retention rate thanks in part to donor-funded student success initiatives.
  • Important initiatives continue. More than $320 million in new gifts and commitments support ongoing initiatives at ASU.
  • The spirit of generosity abounds. In the past year, more than 100,000 individual, corporate and foundation donors stepped forward to help the ASU community.
