Annual Giving

It's time for solutions.

Each year, generous ASU alumni, parents and friends of the university offer incredible opportunities for students, faculty, research and programs — helping us educate global citizens prepared to make the world a better place. Your gifts to ASU directly support student success, innovative programs and student-life enhancements that make an ASU education unique.

It's time to invest in ASU.

Annual gifts to Arizona State University offer alumni and friends an opportunity to directly and positively impact ASU students, the community and the world by providing opportunities and the resources critical to immediate and regular funding of the college, school, unit or program of their choice.

Annual gifts are the foundation of philanthropy at ASU. These gifts are vital funds that support a wide variety of programs that enrich a student’s education and prepare them for success in the 21st century.

Many university programs are enhanced by distinctive opportunities — enrichments that make an ASU education unique — that cannot be provided solely by tuition and government funding. Private support, at all levels, is essential to the university’s ability to provide educational experiences, research, programs and services that change lives and better the world.

Your Impact

Supporters of the university have played a critical role in transforming ASU into a New American University — measured not by who we exclude, but rather by whom we include and how they succeed. We pursue research and discovery that benefit the public good, and assume major responsibility for the economic, social and cultural vitality of the community.

Your generous support makes the difference.

Annual Giving FAQ

The depth of the student experience at ASU depends on gifts to the annual fund. When you make a gift, you may choose to make an “area of greatest need” gift. These unrestricted gifts provide the financial means to respond to our most pressing needs and expand our commitments to excellence in education. You may also choose to designate your gift for use by a specific school, program or purpose, including the Sun Devil Family Association or Sun Devil Athletics. For a complete list of designation areas, please visit our where to give page. Such gifts directly support teaching, research and scholarship opportunities for students. Each year, alumni, parents and friends of ASU are asked to support the school, college or unit of their choice with a gift to the annual fund.
Today, state funding covers only about 25 percent of the cost of educating an ASU student, which includes hiring talented faculty, enhancing academic programs, providing student services, equipping top-quality labs and more. ASU must continually seek support from many private sources to bridge the funding gap, making gifts received from alumni, parents and friends so impactful in the lives of our students.

You may make an annual gift at any time via cash, check, credit card or wire transfer. We can also establish a pledge for you, so you can commit to paying your gift over time. If you have not made a gift commitment over the phone with one of our Tell-a-Devil Network student representatives or in response to one of our mailing campaigns, you can make a gift today using one of the following methods.

Many donors are unaware that companies provide their employees with a matching gift program as an added benefit. These programs vary, but generally offer a dollar-for-dollar match when an employee makes a personal gift to a nonprofit organization. To learn more or to see if your company has a matching gifts program, visit our matching gifts page.

No. While the average gift to the annual fund is approximately $100, gifts range from $25 to $10,000 and every gift makes an impact.
You can give to as many areas of ASU as you wish through the ASU Foundation for A New American University.
Annual gifts made to ASU are generally tax-deductible. However, the ASU Foundation advises you to consult a tax professional regarding the deductibility of your contribution. After making a contribution to ASU, you will receive a gift receipt in the mail that includes a breakdown of your donation for tax purposes. You will receive a gift receipt for every designated gift you make and should use these receipts when preparing your tax returns.
The Tell-a-Devil Network is a fundraising program in the ASU Office of Annual Giving. Tell-a-Devil Network student representatives raise money for scholarships, investment funds for all of the units across ASU’s four campuses, the university’s endowment, student programs and much more. Additionally, the students inform ASU alumni, parents and friends about events, successes and volunteer options. Everyone benefits from the relationships built by Tell-a-Devil student representatives. Alumni, parents and friends take advantage of opportunities to advance the university and everyone celebrates their individual contribution to ASU’s success.

Anyone can contribute a gift to the Sun Devil Family Association, which is pooled to make the greatest impact and is granted to different Sun Devil Family Association efforts like scholarships and access to free tutoring for all students. The Sun Devil Family Association is a part of the ASU Foundation and supports a nationwide network of ASU parents, as well as the student experience. For additional information or for special resources for ASU parents, visit the SDFA website or contact the organization at 480-965-7625 or sdfa@asu.edu.
